According to expert, the victim should switch off and keep away from bright screens. Light coming from these screens or even bright light outside the house will make headaches worse. It affects brain functions and will even cause sleeplessness. Switch off or change the settings on your laptop, phone, television and such other gadgets.

Keep calm to avoid excessive head and neck movement. Remember that concussions arise from strain on the head and neck. There are certain movements that are also known to make the situation worse. If these movements are persistent, you will not heal. The muscles that are already recovering area also jolted again. With worsening symptoms, your health will be at risk. Some of the activities to avoid include a ride on the roller coaster and unnecessary physical movements.

Take a lot of water and liquids. There is scientific evidence that dehydration makes concussions worse. It is therefore considered a good idea to remain hydrated. It also ensures that muscles and body tissues remain supple so that they do not cause pain. Water is also good for your overall health. It will therefore be even better when the body is healing. You should take the right amount of water to keep your body properly hydrated.

Take a lot of protein and in different varieties. There are cognition symptoms that are associated with concussions. There is scientific evidence that branch-chain amino acids that are found in proteins help to improve brain function. To speed up recovery, it is therefore advisable to take a lot of proteins. Fish, nuts, beans and meat are great source of amino acids and proteins in general. You need all the food possible for brain growth.

Rest forms part of the treatment regime for concussions. It keeps you away from unnecessary movements and bright light, among other strenuous activities. Increase Omega 3 and antioxidant rich foods in your diet. If concussions are not handled professionally, they will result in severe long term health problems. Consult your doctor to receive necessary guidance and also in case the symptoms persist.
