Exploring Different Essential Oils For Relief

By Kenneth Schmidt

Essential oils have been used for centuries in products such as cosmetics and air fresheners. Only more recently has popularity grown in relation to using different essential oils for relief. For, research now shows that a number of different essences can benefit body, mind and soul.

Many of these offerings are one hundred holistic and natural. As such, drug interactions which can often occur between natural supplements and prescription drugs are often non-existence. Although, it is always good to check with a primary care provider before adding any natural healing product to an existing treatment plan.

Most of these essences are extracted by distillation which uses steam. As this is the case, unlike supplements sold at health stores, there is a far less likely chance of experiencing a drug interaction. While some individuals have seen improvement to allergies by using different blends, it is always best to check with a primary health care provider before doing so.

These essences have also been used in medicine for quite some time. In these cases, the products can be sold as remedies for a number of conditions. For example, many have been used in treatment related to cancer and other terminal illnesses. As a result, most countries have established strict rules, regulations and guidelines when it comes to using these natural essences as medication.

Interest had dwindled in relation to these products in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Since that time, it appears interest has seen somewhat of a revival, especially when it comes to the holistic health industry. One of the most common aspects of holistic health is that of Aromatherapy. As such, this natural healing form has contributed greatly to the future of essences as a valid medical treatment in the future.

In most cases, aromatherapy products are used in massage offices to create a more relaxed environment for clients. Although, there are also private individuals who offer services such as aromatherapy baths and body rubs which require no specialized licensing. While this is the case, it is always important to discuss any uncomfortable reactions to different scents during the process.

Eucalyptus, peppermint, tea tree oil and lavender are the four most common of all essences. When desiring to use these products, it can often be beneficial to look at a comparison sheet online. In doing so, one can see which essences effect body, mind and spirit in different ways. After which, it is easier to determine which scent might be best suited for calming or healing an illness at any given time.

Ibn a-Baitar has been credited with discovering the single distillation process to distract these essences. While most are still derived through this method, there is one exception. For, those using the y-lang y-lang method have often reported that it can take up to 22 hours before a fraction of an essence can be distilled unlike that of single distraction which can take far less time while producing more oil.
