Before You Go Looking For A Suboxone Memphis Facility

By Donna Olson

Addiction is never a pretty thing, no matter what anyone says. Many will try to break off from addictions and many will also fail. Currently you may be struggling with an opiate or heroin addiction on your own and your doctor may have even prescribed a suboxone intervention regimen for you. Prior to you jumping onto the bandwagon and registering at the nearest suboxone Memphis facility, read on and finish this article first.

Suboxone is classified as a pain killer, and in small doses can be a good substitute for Vicodin. Vicodin is a medication prescribed for stenosis pain and pain related to degenerative disc diseases. Many who use this drug in lieu of Vicodin say it is a much better alternative, although it does give a sense of being in space and out of it upon initial use.

There are no shortcuts to getting rid of drug addiction, and the cold turkey method is never recommended. Cold turkey may work for some alcohols and cigarettes, but never will it be true for a controlled substance addiction. Drug substitution therapy over a prolong period is quite effective. This is done by substituting a synthetic substance in lieu of the drug one is dependent on until the body is no longer addicted.

The synthetic drug usually used in drug substitution therapy is suboxone. Another name for this drug is Buprenorphine, in pharmaceutical parlance. It has been found to be most effective when used in regimens that deal with methadone class drugs such as heroin, fentanyl, codeine, hydrocordone and oxycontin.

As this medication is usually manufactured as a pill or a tablet, the most common way of dosage is by oral means. However, the increasing use of it in the past years in substitution therapy has found more flexibility in administration which can include nasal ingestion by spray, skin application by transdermal patch and even intravenously by needle.

Respiratory and pulmonary complications are some things that can happen if this medication is not properly prescribed or you properly prepared for it. It has been known to have caused death in young children, as in the case of accidental ingestion due to parents or adults being careless as to where they place and store their medication.

Any drug, especially those that give strong physical side effects should ever be mixed with alcohol. And this is very true as regards suboxone. When mixed with alcoholic drinks, it may cause seizures and even death. When talking about interactions with other medicines, it will react with about 844 of them, and of this 261 will illicit severe and even fatal reactions. This is a drug that you should be a bit wary off.

Thus this article has shown some background or base information on the drug that you will be using in your therapy. There will be other considerations that you need to look into and research so that you know that you will be making the best informed decision you can regarding your well being and health.
