Ways The Tanning Spray Provides An Alternative To Suntanning

By Haywood Hunter

Artificial tans are widely used by people from all parts of the world. The products that give fake tans, such as tanning spray formulas, can be purchased to use in one's own capacity, or can be applied at professional salons. With a bit of practice, applying the product at home can be successfully done, however, many opt to rather let a skilled person do it for them. Tanning spray booths at a salon almost always achieve perfect results.

A wide variety of products, including tanning spray, have been developed to produce a fake tan. They can be used instead of getting a natural tan from the sun, because this has been proven as harmful to the skin, or they are used instead of sun lamps or beds, because these have also been shown to be just as harmful as the sun. In the past, fake tans really did look rather fake, but with the latest improvements in the products, they now actually create a wonderful and natural-looking tan.

Help from a professional at a beauty salon is often welcome. They usually use similar products and methods of application. You will be assisted by someone who is knowledgeable about the product, and who is able to effectively give you an all-over, good-looking tan with tanning spray.

At the salon, the customer will be asked if he/she would prefer a light, medium or dark tan. This will determine the settings for the tanning spray procedure. The customer will stand in a shower-like environment, and the product will be sprayed onto his/her body.

Before starting the procedure, the staff of the salon will ensure that you understand how it works. You are welcome to clarify any details. Once inside the 'shower', you are alone, and will complete the procedure yourself. If you require a very dark tan, you may need to undergo the tanning spray application several times.

There are a few things that you can do to help the tanning spray process. The first is to remove all dead skin cells and dirt from the area to be tanned. A good sponge, or an exfoliating product is recommended. You can also apply moisturizer before you go to the salon (about an hour beforehand). A moisturizer will make your skin slightly sticky, which will help with the procedure. Afterward, however, find out if there is a lotion that you can buy to help maintain your tan, or find out which moisturizers can be used.

Most people want a tan that covers their whole body, and salons can easily provide this service with their tanning spray methods. Do not wear clothing when the product is applied, as they will only be ruined, and will prevent areas of the body from being sprayed. Gloves can be worn, as they will prevent the palms of your hands from going orange after the application of the tanning spray.

During the procedure when the tanning spray is being applied, try to stay still. Your feet are also a concern as they may come out darker. Try to keep most of the product off of them. Find out from staff of the salon what you should do once the procedure is complete, in order to maintain your new tan for as long as possible.
