Techniques Of Hair Restoration DE

By Brenda Powell

Restoration of hairs involves removing minute punch grafts from areas of scalp that produce hairs. The grafts are then cut into pieces which are used in grafting. Areas from where grafts are obtained are known as donor sites. The grafts obtained get taken to thinning sections of scalp. There are varying shapes and sizes of grafts. When considering hair restoration DE offers many options and one should know what to expect.

Round shaped grafts have between 10 to 15 hairs while smaller mini grafts have 2 to 4 hairs. There are also micro grafts that have 1 to 2 hairs. There can also be the use of slit grafts and strip grafts. One needs to go for a number of sessions to get desired results, with the recovery period being several months. It will take two years or so before one sees full results. Coverage that one requires depends on color and texture of hairs. Coarse and gray hairs have better coverage than fine and dark-colored ones.

Before the surgery, there will be some trimming of hairs to enable easy access and removal of grafts. If punch grafts are being used, a tube-like device is used for punching grafts from donor areas, which are to be used in bald sections. In the case of other graft types, there is use of a scalpel to remove portions of scalp with hairs. As grafts are obtained, saline solution in small quantities is injected into skin for maintenance of its strength.

For there to be proper circulation in the scalp, there is placement of grafts an eighth of an inch apart. In the subsequent sessions, there is filing of spaces between plugs with additional grafts. There should be care when removing grafts to enable transplanted hair to grow in their natural direction. It will also ensure donor sites do not become adversely affected.

The other technique that can be used is called tissue expansion. It is a procedure used in reconstructive surgery for repairing wounds caused by burns or other injuries. It involves using a tissue expander that is inserted beneath scalp sections that bear hair. This is a section that is next to bald areas. The device gets gradually inflated with salt for some weeks. This causes skin expansion and thus growth of new cells.

There is the procedure called flap surgery that has been used for 20 years plus. It is preferable because it is able to cover huge bald areas. The size of flaps used and their placement depends on needs and goals of patients. A flap can achieve what is done by 350 punch grafts. There is lifting of hair bearing flaps which are then sewn into new positions, which happens while they are tethered to their blood supply.

Scalp reduction is used to cover bald sections but is only effective for the top and back sections of the head. It is not the best for restoration of frontal hair lines. After the scalp is injected using local anesthetic, there is removal of segments of the scalp. There is then pulling of skin adjacent to the area to bring together hair bearing sections. The affected areas are closed using stitches.

Procedures that are used depends on the individual. A visit to the doctor is necessary before treatment. The doctor advises on what is most suitable.
