In case you have tan, you should wait until it fads before treatment. Some doctors will recommend that one keeps off the sun for six or more weeks.

It is advisable to avoid plucking, waxing or electrolysis. These are hair removal methods that tend to disturb follicles of hair and interfere with use of lasers. Shaving is acceptable because it preserves hair shafts and follicles. As a matter of fact, shaving is recommended so that lasers do not target skin, potentially causing burns.

Following treatment, exposure to the sun should be avoided for some time. When skin gets healed, you need to use sunscreen whenever you are in the sun. Some few days after treatment, shedding may take place. This might be mistaken for hair regrowth.
