In making a speech, finding a right and interesting topic is important. This could help on gaining the attention of your audience. Furthermore, you have to be passionate on delivering it so the message would bring big impact. If you do it in a monotonous way, that will be ineffective.

Next is the audience. Of course knowing the audience is important so you can use certain strategies to attract their attention. If your audience are adolescents, use a good sense of humor that fits their age. If they are adults, perhaps including some current issues related to your topic could intrigue them.

Writing and reading is essential. Improving those skills could really help in making your speech more substantial. Communication and interpersonal skills is recommended and must equip. If you are low on those skills, practice yourself for more improvement. Start on basics like reading your novels aloud and writing some random poetry. That way you can connect with the listeners and get their attention.

In just five minutes, more people would get bored at listening especially when you just keep on talking on the microphone. Try doing some ice breakers or energizers to make them more active. Inputting some video clips could also turn their attention to you. For visual learners, PowerPoint presentations with pictures could help on grabbing their interest.

Improving yourself is never too late. You still encounter mistakes but then that will help you to learn even more. Afterward, perhaps you will be one of the best inspirational speakers.
