Neuropathy Sufferers Turn To Leading Peabody Chiropractic Office For Evaluation And Care

By Loraine Roane

Peripheral neuropathy most often affects the hands and feet. It is not always limited to the extremities, however. The weak and painful symptoms are the result of some degree of nerve damage. At Peabody Chiropractic the client can get answers as to whether he has this disorder.

When you have your first appointment, the chiropractor will begin by looking at your symptoms. You will be asked to describe the tingling, numbness and pain. These symptoms that are most often seen stem from this condition whether or not it is caused by diabetes. Examples of other causative factors are alcoholism, vitamin deficiency and autoimmune disease.

Cramping in the legs, sharp pain and an inability to sleep through the night may occur. Some individuals feel as if they are wearing tight stockings although their legs and feet are bare. There is pain while walking. It is inaccurate to say only diabetics suffer from this disorder. Only one third of those with peripheral neuropathy are diabetic.

Your spine and extremities will be examined. Describing the symptoms can help in the evaluation. As you walk into the office, the chiropractor may detect that your sense of balance is affected. This is commonly associated with peripheral neuropathy.

The insufficient blood flow to the feet and legs will be improved by wearing compression stocking for at least part of each day. Many people report an immediate improvement. The increase in blood flow reportedly relieves the pain and numbness.

As your chiropractor can attest, individuals over the age of fifty-five are most susceptible to this often disabling condition. Peripheral neuropathy, in the form of carpal tunnel syndrome, strikes many who work on a computer all day. They may be unable to continue in their job. Some types of neuropathy are passed down in families. These have earlier onset, which is usually under the age of thirty. If, unlike carpal tunnel syndrome, the reason for your neuropathy cannot be determined, it is said to be of idiopathic origin.
